Before Dawn runs quietly in the background and it automatically runs a screensaver after a certain period of inactivity. The main configuration panel can be accessed through a system tray icon. There you will find various screensavers and you can pick a default one with a single click. Alternatively, you can let the application run a random screensaver. Each screensaver can be previewed on the same window, so you will always know what you pick.

The same configuration panel is where you can choose when to run a screensaver. You can set different time frames for screensaver activation and for disabling the display. Additionally, the software can lock the screen and it can be disabled automatically if you are on a laptop and the battery is running low.

New screensavers can be created on a separate window, after you specify a name, a description, as well as some other optional details. However, the process requires at least some minimal knowledge about HTML.
